The initial dance piece-prototype was funded by the FFF BAVARIA and supported by the DEUTSCHES MUSEUM/ VRlab, Munich.

MAKING OF “Tracing”

The project is about the development of a technical set of software and hardware components with which an immersive, interactive, motion-controlled VR / 3D video dance performance is to be made possible.
Digital images are created from the movements of a dancer, which carry the energy of the sequences via projections into the amorphous space. The dancer’s dynamics give rise to forms and "images" that merge, dissolve, and then flow again into a new form elsewhere. Everything is vibration and in a constantly changing flow that surrounds performer and viewer alike.
By means of 3D projectors, the dispositive of stage and auditorium is to be dissolved and a constantly changing space is created.
Visual and auditory elements interact with the movements of the dancers via sensors.

Negative space, invisible to us, becomes a visually detectable force field, which becomes an aesthetic experience through the artistic use of game engine tools and particle systems. Through the range of digital technology, boundaries of reality are dissolved and a new virtual scenery is created for the discipline of dance + theater.
